  Being a camper at quinipet for nine years, I loved the OLD quinipet. But since around 2016 when there was new management the camp went downhill. The food became a lot worse, and all my favorite counselors were fired. This year there will be electives, which means I won’t be hanging out with my cabin all the time. Quinipet used to be my favorite place, but now I am not that excited to be going this year. #bringbacktheoldcamp

  My daughters went to Camp Quinipet for years with both prior management and the new management. We LOVED the old Camp Quinipet, the old staff, the old programming, and the old prices. The price of attending has now jumped to $800 while the quality of programs has diminished. Sadly, new management fired most of the old counselors and replaced them with indentured servants from Europe; their unhappiness shows. The quality of the food has suffered under new management and my older daughter who previously did all three levels of Sailing Camp was looking forward to SHA (Senior High Assembly). There was a lot of just sitting around in the grass and making bracelets. Beware- with the new elective system, your child will not have the cohesive experience of going through the day with their bunk mates in the cabin. Past years, children were grouped in cabins according to not only age but interest. So, the water sports kids bunked together, had meals together, played together. Now, with the electives, kids will scatter according to whatever electives they signed up for and not develop the deep friendships that happen in traditional camp experiences where you eat, sleep, and hang out together continuously for a week straight. And, with new management there will be more of an integration of the day campers into the overnight camper programming, not cool. New management also did away with staff getting older campers to the ferry, a pain and an added expense for out of state campers like my family from Ct. I gave it one star because it is a beautiful location. Look elsewhere as it is not the camp that it used to be.
